New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has alleged that businessman Robert Vadra, husband of Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, received Rs 58 crore in Proceeds of Crime (PoC) from a corrupt land deal in Gurugram. The agency also claimed that Vadra gave “evasive replies” and failed to produce evidence to support his claims during questioning in connection with the land deal case.

Vadra recorded his statement with the ED on April 15 and April 16 this year. During questioning, he allegedly shifted responsibility onto three deceased associates, H L Pahwa, Rajesh Khurana and Mahesh Nagar, claiming they acted on their own behalf. When asked for supporting documents, “no documentary evidence was provided by him,” the agency said.

ED has now claimed that Vadra, through his companies Skylight Hospitality Pvt Ltd and Blue Breeze Trading Pvt Ltd (BBTPL), earned about Rs 58 crore from alleged unlawful activities. Of this, Rs 5 crore was routed through BBTPL and Rs 53 crore through Skylight Hospitality. Officials said the funds were used for “conspicuous expenditure” or to acquire movable and immovable properties in his name or through his entities.

The agency filed a prosecution complaint in July against Vadra and 10 others. The case stems from a 2018 FIR in Gurugram over the alleged fraudulent purchase of 3.53 acres in Shikohpur, Sector 83, by Skylight Hospitality from Onkareshwar Properties Pvt Ltd. The ED alleges a false declaration was made in the sale deed, underreporting the Rs 15 crore consideration as Rs 7.5 crore and falsely claiming payment by cheque that was never encashed.

On July 16, the ED issued a provisional attachment order covering 43 properties worth Rs 37.64 crore linked to Vadra and his entities, including agricultural lands in Faridabad, commercial units in Gurugram and Noida, and land in Bikaner. The agency says these assets are either direct or value-equivalent “proceeds of crime.”

The prosecution complaint, filed on July 17 before a Delhi court, names Vadra, his companies, Onkareshwar Properties, and others as accused. The court has yet to take cognisance of the case.
