New Delhi: Six days after being granted bail in a money-laundering case linked to a land scam, Hemant Soren was back as Jharkhand chief minister last week.
Now, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has moved the Supreme Court, challenging the bail of Soren, reported India Today.
The central probe agency said that the Jharkhand High Court’s order, granting bail to Soren, was “illegal.”
ED, which had arrested Soren on January 31 after he stepped down as CM, said in its petition that the High Court had “erred” in saying there was no prima facie case against the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) chief.
After Soren walked out of Ranchi’s Birsa Munda jail on June 28, JMM leader Champai Soren stepped down as chief minister, paving the way for Soren’s return to the hot seat.
Soren moved a confidence motion in the Assembly and won the trust vote.
