Bhubaneswar: Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated across Odisha on Saturday following the non-sighting of the crescent moon anywhere in the state on Thursday evening.
The announcement was made by Anjuman Islamia Ahle Sunnat Al Jamaat Chand Committee, which confirmed the festival will be observed a day later than initially expected.
As Friday marks the last day of the holy month of Ramadan, members of the Muslim community will observe their final fast before celebrating Eid. During Ramadan, healthy adult Muslims fast from dawn to dusk (Roja), engage in Quran recitation, offer special prayers, and practice charity and self-reflection. Exceptions apply for the sick, elderly, pregnant women, and travellers.
