Jajpur: One person was killed and two others sustained critical injuries after a truck rammed into a car from behind while it was being repaired on the road in Odisha’s Jajpur district.
According to preliminary information, the accident took place near Sathipur Pathapranta Chhak under the jurisdiction of Panikoili police station late on Monday night.
Sources said the car was reportedly on way from Bhadrak towards Bhubaneswar when it reportedly broke down on the way. The driver parked the car along the road and began repair work when a speeding truck rammed into the vehicle from behind, seriously injuring three people.
Police reached the spot and rescued the injured persons. They were taken to the Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for treatment.
One of the three injured persons died while undergoing treatment at the DHH. The deceased was an elderly man, but his identity was yet to be ascertained.
The two other injured persons, including the truck driver, sustained critical injuries and were reportedly shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Kataka for further treatment.
Police are conducting an investigation into the accident.
