Washington: The world watched with amazement as Donald Trump and Elon Musk sparred in public, throwing accusations at each other.
After ending his role as the head of newly-created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Musk minced no words in criticising Trump’s $4 trillion “big, beautiful bill” as a “disgusting abomination.”
The attack continued, with Musk accusing Trump of “ingratitude”, while the US President threatened to cut the tech billionaire’s government contracts and said he had gone ‘crazy’.
In another bombshell, Musk claimed that Trump’s name was mentioned in the files related to sexual abuser Jeffrey Epstein, which is why his administration is yet to release those.
“Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT,” Musk said on Thursday.
In a subsequent post, Musk wrote, “Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.”
But now, Musk has deleted his Epstein-related post on X, leading political analysts to believe that a truce may be on the cards between the President and former advisor-turned-foe.
According to a report by POLITICO, White House aides are working to ensure the President curtails his public criticism of Musk.
Even the Tesla CEO may have realised that he stands to lose a lot if continues his tirade against the American President.
If that is the case, it will mark quite a quick turnaround for a man who said a new political party was needed in the US and that Trump wouldn’t have won last year’s Presidential election without his help.
As the America and the world have found out over the last few months, one never knows what is coming next from these two gentlemen.
