Endoscopy Facility Becomes Operational For Inmates Of Nandankanan Zoo Near Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: As part of the Odisha government’s move to develop Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP) near Bhubaneswar into a world class zoo, an endoscopy unit for animals has been made operational.
As per reports, the endoscopy unit in the zoo’s veterinary hospital is the first-of-its-kind facility in the state. The facility is meant to help the veterinarians treat the zoo inmates efficiently.
The government has already provided several modern medical equipment including thermal imaging cameras, portable X-Ray machine, long-range tranquiliser guns and ultrasound machine to the zoo. Besides, a neonatal ICU, an ultramodern operation theatre and a dental surgery unit are also functioning in the veterinary hospital on the premises.
It may be noted that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had approved a proposal of Forest department for transformation of the zoo and Botanical Garden into a world class facility under its 5T initiative in June.
As per the proposal, the project will be implemented in 2 phases in 2023-25 and 2025-28. In the first phase, the zoo and the botanical garden will be transformed and in the second phase, Chudang forest adjacent to the zoo would be developed. The forest will have the facility of night safari and a safari complex.
The project on zoo envisages additional facilities for the visitors, modern frontage, landscaping, water bird aviary and immersive enclosures.
