Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister KV Singhdeo flagged off an awareness rally and inaugurated an exhibition on the occasion of National Energy Conservation Day in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, Singhdeo called for involvement of all sections of society in conservation of energy. “Our efforts towards energy conservation should not be confined to seminars and conferences. All of us should actively participate in this initiative,” he said.
Stating that climate change and global warming had become a stark reality, he said, “All efforts should be made towards switching over to green energy from fossil fuel. There should be united and continuous fight against the two climate crises faced by the world,” he added.
The awareness rally, organised by the Energy Department and CES, was taken from Kalinga Stadium to Power House Square in the city in the morning.
Various models related to energy conservation were presented by the school students from 30 districts of the state at the state-level exhibition, organised by the Energy Department. Government and private organisations, industrial houses, professionals, teachers and students participated in the event. Different energy efficient devices, electric vehicles, solar panels and others were displayed on the occasion.
Ahead of the Energy Conservation Day, quiz competitions were held in every block of the state. Top 30 contestants in the quiz participated in the exhibition.
