Baleshwar: An engineering student was found dead in her hostel room at a private college in Seragada area under Khantapada police station in Odisha’s Baleshwar district.
The girl, a second year Computer Science student, hailed from the Nilagiri Panchalingeswar area.
According to sources, she was staying in the college hostel. Other students found her body hanging from the ceiling fan in her room late on Monday night and immediately informed the college authorities as well as the police.
On being informed, family members of the student reached the hostel. While the incident appears to be a case of suicide, the exact reason of death remains unclear.
After receiving information, a team of Khantapada police arrived at the scene and launched an investigation. The body was sent for postmortem and statements of hostel inmates and officials were being recorded as part of the probe.
