Angul: A 23-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed multiple times by her estranged husband during a heated argument at her workplace in Odisha’s Angul district on Tuesday.
According to sources, Tulasi Behera works at a motorcycle showroom near PTC square in Angul town. Her estranged husband Litu Behera of Panchamahala village under Angul tehsil arrived at the showroom unannounced and began quarrelling with her. In the midst of the altercation, he allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed her in the neck, face, and abdomen before fleeing the scene.
The staff at the showroom arranged for an ambulance and rushed her to district headquarters hospital here. As her condition worsened, she was transferred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for advanced critical care.
Sources further stated that the couple had been living separately for the past few days due to some domestic issues. Since then, Litu had been making repeated, unannounced visits to the showroom and engaging in arguments with Tulasi.
Tulasi’s mother has lodged a complaint with the Angul Sadar police, who have detained Litu for questioning and also visited the showroom as part of their ongoing investigation into the assault.
