‘Even I Wonder Why So Many Vacancies’, Odisha Minister Tells Assembly, Announces RI, ARI, Amin Recruitment Drive
Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Thursday said that necessary steps have been taken to fill the posts of Revenue Inspector, Assistant Revenue Inspector and Amin lying vacant in the State.
Voicing surprise over the large number of these posts lying vacant, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari informed the Assembly during the question hour that the state government has initiated necessary steps to fill the vacancies.
Answering a question by MLA Amarendra Das about the number of vacant posts of RI, ARI and Amin at the Tehsil offices in the state, necessary steps are being taken to fill up the posts through selection process and promotion.
Stating that there are 317 Tehsils in the state, he said five Tehsildar posts are lying vacant, while 217 posts of Additional Tehsildar are lying vacant as against the total 446 sanctioned posts.
Noting that the Collectors of different districts have forwarded requisition for the recruitment of the posts of 789 RI, 1385 ARI, and 1169 Amin, the Minister said the proposal is under the consideration of the Odisha Subordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC).
He said the Revenue and Disaster Management department has also replied to certain query made by the commission regarding reservation and the selection process is likely to be completed soon.
To a query by BJD MLA Arun Sahoo regarding such a large number of vacancies, the Minister said he is also surprised and the same question has been agitating his mind for quite some time.
“Even I wonder as to why so many posts have been lying vacant,” Pujari said, while explaining the process involved in the recruitment process and steps initiated by the government.
