Ex-BJD Leader Damodar Rout Names New Political Party

Bhubaneswar: Nearly two months after his expulsion from the BJD, senior leader Damodar Rout on Saturday announced his new political party named after the legendary leader Biju Patnaik.

Briefing mediapersons during a visit to his home constituency Paradip, Dama said it has been decided to name the new political party as Biju Samatakranti Dal. Asserting that Paradip constituency is his fort, he said no political party can have its influence here without his consent. “Whoever is trying to sabotage my influence in my home constituency will never succeed. I am the chowkidar (sentry) of Paradip and will continue to
remain as a chowkidar,” he added.

Dama was expelled from BJD by the party supremo Naveen Patnaik on September 12. The expulsion of the veteran leader was imminent as he had put BJD on the backfoot by raising a series of scams, including the Dankari hill loot in Jajpur district, sapling plantation in Mayurbhanj district, supply of polythene to Omfed, bungling in Cooperative Bank, Black Rose and Ramco Cement Factory before the media.
