Mumbai: Former Team India cricketer and Trinamool Congress MP Yusuf Pathan’s in-laws were arrested in connection with a road rage incident in Mumbai’s Byculla area.
Pathan’s father-in-law Khalid Khan, brother-in-law Umarsad Khan and another relative were accused of thrashing a man and his family members with bamboo sticks and a baseball bat following an altercation.
Byculla police station officials said that the three individuals, including Pathan’s father-in-law, have been taken into custody, and search a fourth accused is underway. A case has been registered against them under Sections 118(2), 115(2), 324, 352, 351(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to police, the incident took place around 9 pm on Saturday when Yusuf Khan, a local resident, was returning home when his car splashed water from a pothole on Shoaib Khan. Yusuf Khan told police he immediately stopped his car and apologised for the incident.
However, Shoaib allegedly began abusing him and damaged the car’s windshield using a bamboo stick before physically assaulting him, causing injuries.

According to investigators, another confrontation broke out, and Yusuf Khan and his relatives were brutally attacked with sticks and bats.
In a counter-complaint, Umarsad lodged an FIR against Yusuf Khan at the same police station.
A local court will hear arguments on Wednesday on the bail pleas of Pathan’s relatives.
