Mumbai: Former Mumbai mayor and Shiv Sena leader Vishwanath Mahadeshwar was on Monday arrested along with three others in connection with the attack on Kirit Somaiya.
Stones were pelted at BJP leader Somaiya’s car on Saturday when he went to at Khar police station to meet the MP-MLA couple Navneet Rana and Ravi Rana, who were taken into custody in the Hanuman Chalisa row.
Somaiya accused ‘100 Shiv Sena gundas’ of pelting stones at his car. Maharashtra Home minister Dilip Walse Patel on Sunday confirmed that stones were pelted at the BJP leader’s vehicle, adding that a case had been registered.
The ex-Mayor and three others were nabbed today hours after a Somaiya-led BJP delegation met Union Home ministry officials, including Minister of State (Home) Nityanand Rai and Home secretary Ajay Bhalla to apprise them of Saturday’s stone-pelting incident.
“Nityanand Rai assured BJP Delegation to take appropriate steps to Stop Abuse of Power & Assault,” Somaiya posted on Twitter after the meeting.
