New Delhi: There was some relief for former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda’s family, which has been caught in an alleged sex scandal.
Deve Gowda’s son, Janata Dal (Secular) MLA HD Revanna, was granted bail by a local court in a kidnapping case linked to the sex scandal case which has rocked Karnataka amid the Lok Sabha elections.
Revanna’s son Prajwal Revanna is accused of rape and sexual harassment after obscene videos were leaked last month.
Prajwal, seeking re-election from Hassan parliamentary constituency, left the country the day after the sex videos surfaced.
Karnataka Police filed an FIR against Revanna in connection with the kidnapping of a woman — believed to be one of the survivors of sex video scandal involving his son == after her son registered a missing complaint accusing the MLA.
Revanna, arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on May 4, was ordered by the local court to furnish a bail bond of Rs 5 lakh.
Congress on Monday demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government make every effort to bring Prajwal back to India.
“You should bring back Prajwal Revanna and hand him over to the Karnataka government. The silence of PM and BJP leaders is like supporting the accused,” said Congress’ women wing president Alka Lamba, adding that the Centre must make talk to Germany to get back Revanna.
Three FIRs have been registered against Prajwal so far and his father in connection with the sexual abuse allegations.
