Sonepur: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) in the excise department was critically injured after the motorcycle he was riding collided head-on with a car in Odisha’s Sonepur on Friday.
The ASI has been identified as Dayanidhi Barik.

According to sources, the accident took place on the Sonepur-Sambalpur main road at S Patrapali while the ASI was on his way from Balangir towards Sambalpur. He was thrown off the bike following the crash. Barik was initially admitted to Community Health Centre (CHC) at Ullunda in Sonepur and later shifted to VIMSAR, Burla, for critical care.
Meanwhile, police have seized both the car and the motorcycle and begun an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the crash.
