Bhubaneswar: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar arrived in Bhubaneswar on Saturday on a two-day visit to Odisha in the run up to the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the state.
He was accorded a rousing welcome by senior BJP leaders, including former state unit president Samir Mohanty, soon after his arrival in the capital city.
During his visit, Jaishanker is scheduled to attend a number of programmes in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Sambalpur, a senior leader of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said.
The Union Minister is slated to begin his visit with a meeting with editors of different media houses in the state capital. He will interact with the editors and exchange views with them on several issues.
Jaishankar is scheduled to address a press conference in the evening. Thereafter, he is also slated to attend a meeting with intellectuals in the capital city.
On the second day of his visit to the state on Sunday, the External Affairs Minister is scheduled to attend a party workers’ meeting in Cuttack. He is also slated to attend similar programmes in Sambalpur on Sunday.
Notably, BJP national president J P Nadda will visit Odisha on Sunday. He will meet state party leaders and attend worker’s meetings. He is also scheduled to attend a programme in Cuttack.
