Mumbai: After the 2013 blockbuster film ‘Chennai Express’, Shah Rukh Khan and Rohit Shetty teamed up again for ‘Dilwale’ in 2015.
However, unlike ‘Chennai Express’, ‘Dilwale’ failed to impress movie buffs and since then, the actor and the filmmaker never collaborated for any project. This sparked speculation that there might be bad blood between the actor and the filmmaker.
Now, in a recent interview with Komal Nahta, Rohit has set the records straight.
“Nahi aisa kuch nahi (Nothing of that sort),” Rohit said, while dismissing the fallout rumours.
He further explained, “Ek respect hai humare beech me aur Dilwale ke baad ye hua ki immediately phir humne humare khud ki production house kholi. Humne decide kiya ki hum khud ki filmein banayenge. Agar loss bhi ho to humara ho, jabki loss nahi hua tha. (We share mutual respect for each other. After the release of Dilwale, I started my own production house. I decided to produce my own films so that if they tank at the box-office, the loss will be mine. However, there has been no loss.”
The filmmaker further said that while ‘Dilwale’, produced by Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan under their banner, Red Chillies Entertainment, didn’t do well at the domestic box-office, it was a huge success overseas.
The filmmaker then shared about his strong bond with actors Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone.
On the work front, Shah Rukh will be next seen in ‘King’. The film will be helmed by Siddharth Anand and will also feature Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan and Abhay Verma in key roles.
On the other hand, Rohit is currently working on the next instalment of his cop universe ‘Singham Again.’
