New Delhi: Union Minister Smriti Irani conducted an ‘As Me Anything’ session on Instagram, inviting her followers to shoot whatever questions they had in their minds.
There were a number of interesting queries, but one of them – on Smriti’s marriage — seemed to irk her a tad.
“Aap ki shadi aap ke friend ke pati se hui kya (Did you marry your friend’s husband)?” the person asked.
The question was related to Smriti’s marriage with Zubin Irani and her relationship with Zubin’s former wife Mona.
Sharing that this is something Smriti is often asked online, she set the record straight by saying that Mona Irani can’t be a childhood friend as she is 13 years older than her.
“Nahi ji. Mona is 13 years older than me, so no question of her being my ‘bachpan ki saheli’,” the actress-turned-politician wrote.
“She (Mona) is family and not a politician, so don’t drag her in.. fight me, argue with me, demean me but don’t drag a civilian who has nothing to do with politics into the gutter with you. She deserves respect,” Smriti lectured the person.
Smriti and Zubin who got married in 2001, have a son named Zohr and a daughter, Zoish.
Zubin was previously married to Mona Irani, and the two have a daughter named Shanelle.
