Fact Check: Did This Man Fall Off US Military Aircraft In Kabul?

Doha: Gut-wrenching photographs of people hanging precariously from aircrafts on the move have sadly been a highlight of the ongoing Afghanistan crisis. Now, a clear picture of a person falling from a US military aircraft is doing the rounds on social media.

A Twitter post read, “The most evocative image to come out of Afghanistan. Disaster for US image as a global superpower. This needless haste and panic to exit has caused great loss of face for the US military. These are images far worse than Saigon and will haunt the US for a long time.”

However, this photograph is morphed and is misleading.

A reverse image search shows the original picture without anyone falling off. The photo is of a Lockheed C-130H Hercules aircraft, taken on May 9, 2017, at the Prestwick Airport in Glasgow.

The US military has used C-17 Globemaster III aircrafts to evacuate people from Kabul.

It is a fact that some people have fallen off planes during the evacuation process. But this image is not a real one.

Also the Twitter ID is fake. Major General (Dr) GD Bakshi has clarified.
