Mumbai: The makers of Prabhas starrer ‘Spirit’ on Wednesday set the record straight while addressing rumours over a possible delay in the film’s release timeline.
The film is “progressing as planned” and “will release on March 5, 2027,” as scheduled, they clarified.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared on X, “PRABHAS – SANDEEP REDDY VANGA – BHUSHAN KUMAR: ‘SPIRIT’ NOT POSTPONED… The makers of #Spirit have officially clarified that the film is progressing exactly as planned and will arrive in cinemas worldwide on 5 March 2027. There is absolutely NO postponement whatsoever.”

The clarification comes shortly after a report by Mid-Day suggested that ‘Spirit’ might be delayed to December 2027 to avoid clashing with Salman Khan’s upcoming film alongside Nayanthara.
“Salman Khan locked Eid 2027, which will fall in early March, for his next with Nayanthara. Once that date was taken, it didn’t make sense for Spirit to arrive in the same window. Vanga’s films rely heavily on sustained buzz and clean runs. So, the delay is a calculated move, not due to production issues,” a source was quoted as saying by the news portal.
‘Spirit’ is said to present Prabhas in a completely new avatar, as a fierce, angry young police officer taking on a powerful mafia network.
If reports are to be believed, the action drama could feature one of his most intense performances till date, further elevated by Vanga’s direction.
The film was initially expected to star Deepika Padukone as the female lead, but she reportedly exited the project following unsuccessful negotiations. Deepika was later replaced by Triptii Dimri, who will be making her Telugu cinema debut with the film.
