Mumbai: After a teaser featuring Aamir Khan as Guru Nanak went viral on social media platforms and sparked controversy, the actor stepped forward to clear the air.
A YouTube channel shared a teaser on April 25, featuring Aamir as Guru Nanak, which left the Sikh community miffed.
As it turns out, it was AI-generated.
Addressing the row, Aamir issued an official statement stating that the teaser is fake, and he has not signed any such project.
“The poster showing Aamir Khan as Guru Nanak is completely fake and AI generated. Aamir Khan has no connection to any such project. He holds the highest respect for Guru Nanak and would never be part of anything disrespectful. Please don’t fall for fake news,” the statement read.
The fake teaser also claimed that the upcoming film is being bankrolled by T-Series.
According to a report in Dainik Bhaskar, BJP Punjab spokesperson, Pritpal Singh Baliawal lodged a complaint with SGPC, and also urged the Punjab Police, Cyber Cell, and security agencies to trace the IP addresses of the miscreants and take a strict action against them.
