India officially passed on the G20 presidency to Brazil as Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed over the gavel to Brazil President Lula da Silva at the concluding session on Sunday.

However, India will continue to hold the G20 chair November 30 this year, and it’s only on December 1 that Brazil will take over the mantle of presidency.

There is ample time for India – from now till end of November — to discuss and deliberate on G20 matters.

So will there be another G20 leaders’ summit in the next few months?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi did propose a virtual session of the G20 around end of November to take stock of the suggestions and decisions taken at the tw0-day leaders’ conclave in the Indian Capital.

“In the last two days, you have put forward your views, given suggestions and a number of proposals have been put forward. It is our responsibility that the suggestions that have come forth are closely looked upon as to how they can be speeded up,” Modi said during his concluding speech yesterday.

“It is my proposal that we hold another session of the G20 virtually in November-end. In that session, we can review the issues that have been agreed upon during this summit. Our teams will share the details of it with all of view. I hope all of you will join this (session),” the Indian PM said before declaring the G20 summit closed.

Since there was no media interaction post the summit, what the leaders felt about Modi’s proposal couldn’t be ascertained.
