Mumbai: Tabloids are abuzz with speculation that Kartik Aaryan and Varun Dhawan will be replacing Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar in the upcoming sequel to the 2004 hit film ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi.’
The first instalment of the David Dhawan-directed romcom starred Salman, Akshay and Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles.
As per a report in Pinkvilla, producer Sajid Nadiadwala, who had bankrolled ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’, is already in talks with Kartik and Varun for the sequel.
However, an insider rubbished the reports and said that Kartik has his hands full with other projects.
“The rumours of Kartik being in talks for Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2 are untrue. The actor is currently busy with filming his current project and has a few more in the pipeline that he wants to wrap up first,” an industry source told Hindustan Times.
The source added, “Kartik is currently focused on solo-led films because he believes that’s the path best aligned with his growth and the space he’s carved for himself. It’s not about avoiding ensemble or multi-hero projects—it’s about the confidence he has in his vision. He’s among the most intelligent actors today, and his choices reflect that.”
Kartik is currently shooting for Anurag Basu’s untitled film with Sreeleela in the northeast.
The actor has also been roped in for Karan Johar’s ‘Naagzilla.’
Another upcoming project of Kartik is ‘Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri’, to be helmed by Sameer Vidwans and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.
