Fake Currency Note Printing Unit Busted, Two Arrested In Odisha’s Nayagarh

Nayagarh: Police on Tuesday unearthed a fake currency note printing unit in the town and arrested two persons in this connection.

The unit was detected after a man identified as Dibyaranjan Hota of Kasko under Khandapada police limits, attempted to purchase a sports bike in a showroom at Durgaprasad. After inquiring about the features, Hota settled for one valued at Rs 1.3 lakh.

After the paper works and other formalities, Hota wanted to pay the amount in cash. He handed over the ‘home-made’ notes of Rs 1.3 lakh of Rs 500 denomination.

The showroom staff suspected those to be fake notes and informed the local police. The police detected that the currency notes were fake. Acting on the lead from Hota, they raided a rented house at Rajabagicha Lane here.

During the search, police seized a computer, a printer, half printed currency notes, soiled notes and other materials used in the printing of counterfeit notes.

The accused has been arrested and further investigation is on.
