Rourkela: Police have arrested a fake doctor who was working as a medical officer at the Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) in Odisha’s steel city.

He had been working as dialysis specialist at the hospital by furnishing fake certificate. He had also been conducting dialysis of patients while working as a medical officer at the centre.
However, the fraudulent act came to light after he obtained a loan of around Rs 16 lakh from a finance company which examined and verified the documents submitted by the fake doctor.
After learning about the reality, the finance company lodged a complaint following which the Raghunathpalli Police took the man into custody on Wednesday and launched a thorough investigation.
Notably, Padmanabhan had also been arrested earlier in November 2019 on same charge when he was working at a primary health centre (PHC) in Nuagaon, also in Sundargarh district.
Sources said the accused, who is stated to be a pharmacist, had arranged a fake certificate in the name of Rajesh Kumar Jha and was posted at the RGH through an outsourcing firm.
During interrogation by the police, Padmanabhan confessed everything.
RGH officials said steps have been initiated to ascertain as to how the man got posting at the hospital through the outsourcing company. The authorities concerned have also been informed about the fraud and urged to initiate appropriate action against those responsible for engaging the fake doctor, they said.
