Bhubaneswar: Amid the hullabaloo over the honeytrap racket, allegedly involving Arachana Nag and several influential people, the Commissionerate Police on Friday busted a fake escort service racket in Odisha’s capital on Friday with the arrest of five persons, including the mastermind and another woman.
According to sources, mastermind Sushant Patra, a native of Delang in Puri, and another woman identified as Sarita Parida along with four others allegedly posted ads on the internet about providing escort services and invited people to a hotel. The gang then used to loot money from those availing the service and destroyed the preactivated SIM cards to avoid being traced.
Following the arrest, a woman, who identified herself as Sushant’s wife, claimed that he had been tying knots with different women every year and had 12 wives. He would then blackmail those women and force them into the flesh trade by taking their obscene photos and videos.
Meanwhile, Sushant’s family has denied all the allegations. “My son is not involved in this incident. All allegations are baseless. He works as a postmaster. The woman who has made those allegations is trying to frame my son,” Sushant’s father told a local channel.
His father also mentioned that the woman had filed a complaint at the Khandagiri police station alleging that she was tortured by Sushant. “Based on her complaint, the cops had forced Sushant to put a garland on her,” he added.
Currently, Sushant has been admitted to the hospital due to poor health conditions.
