Cuttack: A fake foreign liquor manufacturing unit was busted and two persons were taken into custody by Excise department officials in Choudwar area of Odisha’s Cuttack district on Thursday.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Excise department conducted a raid at Dhoomavati Colony and seized liquor manufacturing materials, and counterfeit labels and stickers of premium brands. Two persons have been arrested in this connection, sources said.
During the operation, two persons were detained for further investigation. The team seized a range of items used in the fabrication of fake liquor. These included machinery, various chemicals, bottles, caps, and imitation labels of popular brands.
The premises were reportedly rented and managed by a youth identified as Joy Subham, originally from Bihar, who remains at large. The Excise Department officials are yet to nab the primary suspect and efforts are on to apprehend Subham.
