Family Leaves Village On Maoist Threat In Odisha’s Malkangiri
Malkangiri: Despite intense and persistent operations of security forces to control the Maoist menace, their presence continues to cast a mortal fear on the people in south Odisha as was evident in case of a family in the district who had to leave their village due to threat of the banned outfit.
According to sources, following an encounter with police in Totaguda village under Janti panchayat on December 26, the Maoists held the illegal ‘praja’ court at Sanyasiguda village where they accused villager Manu Golari of working as a police informer.
They also ordered Manu to leave the village and threatened that if he failed to do so, he would face dire consequences.
The sources said Manu along with his wife and daughter left Sanyasiguda on Monday night and went to a relative’s house in Kaimati village.
As Manu did not feel safe in Kaimati, he has left for an undisclosed destination, the sources added.
