Farm Laws Row: Supreme Court Proposes Centre-Farmer Panel

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday said that the government’s negotiations with the farmers on the new farm laws introduced by the Centre “will not work and are bound to fail again.”

So, the top court suggested that a panel, including the members of the government and the farmers’ associations across the country, be formed to resolve the issue.

“This will soon become a national issue and will have to solve through negotiations,” Chief Justice of India SA Bobde was quoted as saying by NDTV.

The Centre assured the court that it will not do anything against the farmers, adding that dialogue will be on “clause to clause basis”.

“Different ministers talked to them. But they turned their chairs back and did not talk to them,” the lawyer appearing on behalf of the government said.
