Farmers’ Body Launch Indefinite Hunger Stir In Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: Thousands of farmers from across the state under the aegis of Naba Nirman Krushak Sangathan (NNKS) launched an indefinite hunger strike at Mahatma Gandhi Marg here on Monday seeking immediate fulfilment of their longstanding demands.
“Price, pension and prestige are the fundamental rights of the farming community. The state government must call a cabinet meeting immediately and announce a budgetary allocation of Rs 21,600 crore to fulfil the demands of Rs 5,000 monthly pension calculated for the last 20 years”, said NNKS Coordinator Akshay Kumar, who led the protest.
This time, our protest will definitely mount pressure on the government. No political party leader shall be allowed to enter the villages of the state during elections, if our genuine demands are not heeded at the earliest, Kumar added.
