Fighting COVID-19: Banks Set To Introduce Contactless ATMs In India Soon

Mumbai: Banks in India will be introducing contactless ATMs soon, which will help in combating the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.

According to reports, a prototype has been developed by AGS Transact Technologies, using the bank’s mobile app to interface with the machine.

All ATM cards have magnetic strips which help identify the account holder and the PIN for authorisation. To withdraw cash from contactless ATMs, the customers will scan a QR code on the screen using the bank’s smartphone app. They have to enter the amount of withdrawal and provide the PIN of their ATM card in their phones. They can then collect the cash without touching the money kiosk.

India has seen a rapid rise in coronavirus positive cases in the last couple of weeks, with over 9000 new cases in the past 24 hours. The total number of active cases stands at 109461, with 6348 people having died.
