Lucknow: A case has been registered against Lalit Agarwal, the brother of Uttar Pradesh minister Kapil Dev Agarwal, for allegedly using pictures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to promote a mobile phone brand.
Police officials said an FIR has been registered against Lalit Agarwal at Hazratganj Police Station.
“My brother is being made a soft target. There is no merit in the case, and he will be cleared of all the charges,” PTI quoted Kapil Dev Agarwal as saying.
It was learnt that Lalit, who owns an advertising agency, put up the photographs of Modi and Adityanath on a hoarding ahead of the launch of the phone.
Lalit had the photographs of Modi and Adityanath removed from the hoarding after questions were raised. The advertising agency also tendered an apology.
But the damage control attempt didn’t work.
