Pattamundai: A massive fire broke out inside the Primary Community Health Centre at Pattamundai in Kendrapara district late on Friday.
The fire erupted inside the Niramaya drug distribution centre inside of the hospital at around 2 am. Noticing the blaze, a few doctors and staff immediately alerted the fire brigade.
On receiving calls, fire personnel rushed to the spot and manage to douse the flames after an hour-long effort.
Medicine stocks, computer and other valuables worth several lakhs of rupees were gutted. However, no injury was reported in the mishap.
Though the exact reason behind the incident is still unclear, locals and hospital authorities suspect that an electric short circuit inside the medicine distribution centre might have triggered the fire.
