New Delhi: Shots were fired at popular comedian Kapil Sharma’s restaurant in Canada late on Wednesday night (local time), NDTV reported.
This was the third such incident targeting Kap’s Café since it was launched in early July in Surrey, a city in British Columbia.
Gangsters Goldy Dhillon and Kuldeep Sidhu, both part of Lawrence Bishnoi’s operations, claimed credit for the attack on social media.
The first attack was on July 10, within a week of the café’s opening, when some employees were inside. The second attack took place on August 8, when at least 25 shots were fired.
Hours after the latest attack, Dhillon’s threatening post claiming responsibility reportedly surfaced, which warned the “general public” to stay away.
“I, Goldy Dhillon, take responsibility for the three shootings that took place (at Kap’s Cafe). We have no enmity with the general public,” it said. The authenticity of Dhillon’s post, though, could not be verifed.
A screenshot of Dhillon’s purported post has gone viral. He has claimed that he called Kapil, but he ‘didn’t hear the ring’, resulting in the action.
“If he still doesn’t hear the ring, the next action will be conducted in Mumbai,” the post further stated.
It may be recalled that the Bishnoi gang was listed as a ‘terror entity’ by the Canadian government last month.
