First Cut-Off List For Undergraduate Courses In Odisha Colleges Released, Ravenshaw On Top Again

Bhubaneswar: The Higher Education Department has released the first cut-off list for admission into undergraduate courses (Plus-3) in different colleges of Odisha with Ravenshaw University once again posting the highest cut-off in all four streams.

The stream-wise merit list for the first phase admission to about 1,051 degree colleges in the state was released on Tuesday. Of the total number of 2,37,795 students who had applied, 1,78,976 students, including 72,556 male students, 1,06,414 females and six transgenders, have been selected for first phase admission.

While 45,614 have been selected for Science stream, 1,09,854 have been selected for Arts, 17,156 for Commerce, 3,574 for Shastri, 2,626 for self-financing courses and 152 for Law.

The total sanctioned seat strength is 2,74,331.

Ravenshaw University had the highest cut-off rates in all streams — Arts, Physical Science, Biological Science and Commerce. The highest cut-off rate in Arts was for geography at 89.67 per cent. In Physical Science and Biological Science, it was 91.17 per cent for Physics and 93.20 per cent for Zoology. Likewise, in Commerce stream, the university had a cut-off rate of 88.6 per cent.

The university was also at the top among colleges posting high cut-off marks in Physical Science subjects of mathematics, chemistry, geology, computer science, economics and statistics.

In the self-financing stream, BJB Autonomous College had a cut-off rate of 87.4 per cent for admission to biotechnology. For admission to the five-year Integrated BA LLB course, Madhusudan Law University sought 81 per cent marks. In Sanskrit, Radhamadhab Sanskrit College at Khurda had the highest cut-off rate at 68.57 per cent.
