Berhampur: A 20 feet whale shark lying lifeless on Sunapur beach was the last thing that the fisherfolk of Odisha’s Ganjam district had expected on a hot Thursday afternoon. A surprise was waiting for them, though.
The giant fish was still alive. They immediately alerted the forest department officials.
And soon the tourists and locals, who had flocked the beach for a glimpse of the shark, were seen pushing it back into the sea.
Berhampur divisional forest officer Amlan Nayak said that the department would keep a watch as the shark might again come back to the coast.
