Berhampur: Fishermen helped a giant shark, which had got stuck on the beach in Sonapur of Odisha’s Ganjam district, swim back into the sea on Monday.
According to sources, the fishermen staying close to Sonapur beach were surprised to find a shark on the seashore. The sharks, which normally stay in deep sea, have not been sighted in the sea coast along the area earlier, they said.
The shark, measuring around 10 ft in length, had some injury marks on its body. Suspecting that it might have been injured in deep sea by fishing nets, they informed the Forest department.
The Forest officials along with the fishermen carried out the treatment of the injuries on the shark. Later, they tried to push the shark back into the sea water with ropes and other materials. After a prolonged effort, the shark swam back into the sea, much to the happiness of the fishermen.
