According to sources, the accused lured Suryakanti Mallick (35) of Bauribasta in Puri Sadar police limits on the promise of a job in Hyderabad but took her to Janada village under Ashok Nagar police limits in Guna district of Madhya Pradesh. Here, she was sold off to Dasarath Singh Yadav for Rs 50,000, who subsequently forced her to marry him.
Suryakanti was rescued recently following the joint efforts of MP’s Ashok Nagar police and the Puri police. On being informed of their daughter’s plight, Suryakanti’s parents went to Janada and requested Dasarath Singh Yadav to leave their daughter. Ram Krishna Ray of Janada (MP), who is presently living at Batagaon (Nuagaon) in Puri Sadar police limits is the mastermind behind the trafficking of the victim, said the police.
