Five Child Labourers Rescued In Nagada
Jajpur: At least five child labourers were rescued by a joint team of Jajpur district child protection unit and police from malnutrition-hit Nagada village in the district on Thursday night.
According to sources, three of the rescued children were working with the forest department to douse wildfires, while two others were engaged in construction work by contractors. They were handed over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) after medical examination by the district administration.
“Vocational training will be imparted to the children. They will be rehabilitated as per the norms of government schemes,” Jajpur Child Welfare Committee chairperson Rita Behera informed.
A show-cause notices will be served to the forest department and concerned contractors for engaging the children as labourers, district officials informed.
