Two Jawans Injured In Maoist-Triggered Landmine Blast Near Odisha-Chhattisgarh Border

Chitrakonda: Two jawans were critically injured in a Maoist-triggered landmine blast near Bhopalpatnam in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh along Malkangiri border on Friday.

The victims, identified as Jogesh Patel and Indrajeet Singh, were immediately rushed to Bijapur health centre for treatment.

Acting on specific information regarding the existence of a Maoist camp, a joint team of about 60-70 officials from CRFP and district police conducted a raid in the forest area. During search operation, the landmines set off by Maoists exploded injuring two of the security personnel, police sources informed.

Combing operations have been intensified following the incident, the sources added.

On March 13, as many as nine security personnel belonging to the 212 CRPF Battalion’s patrolling team were killed and three others critically injured when Maoists blew up a mine-protected vehicle at Kishtaram in the strife-torn  Sukma district in Chhattisgarh.
