Talcher: Five people were injured on Thursday morning in a hit-and-run collision near Handidhuan Chhak in Talcher of Angul district.
According to sources, the car driver, allegedly in an inebriated condition, hit a person before ramming the vehicle into an electric pole at Handidhuan Chhak. While attempting to flee the spot, the errant driver hit five other persons.

The locals, however, managed to catch hold of the person and handed him over to police.
The five persons, who suffered critical injuries in the accident, were admitted to Central Hospital for treatment.
Police have seized the vehicle and started investigation into the matter.
