Five Of Odisha Family Killed In West Bengal Road Mishap

Kalimpong: In a tragic incident, five members of a family from Odisha died and three others were critically injured in a road mishap in Kalimpong district of West Bengal on Tuesday afternoon.

According to reports, eight members of a family from Salepur area in Cuttack district, presently staying in Bhubaneswar had gone on a trip to Assam recently. On Tuesday, the family members were on their way to Siliguri from Gangtok on a Tata Sumo SUV when the driver lost control of the vehicle. It fell about 100 feet off the ghat road near Lohapool on National Highway-10 in Kalimpong.

While five members died on the spot, three others were critically injured. Locals with the help of the police brought out the five bodies from the vehicle and admitted injured members to the hospital.

The deceased have been identified as Abhijit Rath, Sulochana Panda, Shakuntala Nanda, Chandrasekhar Nanda and Sabita Nanda.
