Flood Threat Looms As Jalaka River Crosses Danger Mark In Odisha’s Balasore

Balasore: Following incessant rainfall in the upper catchments in the last three days due to low pressure over the Bay of Bengal, the water level of Jalaka river in Balasore district has gone past the danger mark.

Sources in the district control room said that the water level of Jalaka at Mathani in Basta block was flowing at a height of 5.70 metres against the danger mark of 5.5 metres by 9.30 am on Wednesday.

The Water Resources Department informed the floodwater will enter the seven panchayats of Mathani, Baharda, Dudhahansa, Sadanandapur, Barunagadia, Chakurai, Darida, Gadipada and Routapada of Basta block and two panchayats of the Sadar block if the water level touches 6.5 metres.
