Flood Threat In Balasore With Rivers Flowing Over Danger Mark

Balasore: With heavy rain lashing the coastal district of Balasore since last 24 hours, flood threat is looming large in the district.

According to reports, due to heavy rain in the upper catchments of Jharkhand, the authorities of Galudi barrage have opened 7 gates since Monday night. Till reports last came in, 1,80,000 cusecs of water per second was being released from the barrage.
At Rajghat, the water level of Subarnarekha has crossed the danger mark. As against the danger level of 9.81 metres, the water was flowing at 10.36 metres till 1 pm.
As informed by an official of Central Water Commission (CEC) at Rajghat, the water level is expected to touch 11 metres by midnight.
On the other hand, the water level of Jalaka river has also crossed the danger mark at Mathani. The river was flowing at 6.01 metre as against the danger mark of 5.5 metres.
