Floodwater Inundates Bhattarika Temple, Deity Shifted Out

Cuttack: Floodwater of the Mahanadi river entered Maa Bhattarika temple in Narasinghpur of Cuttack district in the early hours of Monday.

The river has been swelling following incessant rain for the past four days.

According to the sources, more than three feet water is flowing inside the temple. Water gushed into the temple around 3 am and people could been wading through knee-deep water.

The flooding, however, did not impact the rituals at the temple as the Endowment Department immediately relocated the idol to a safer place.

Villagers in low-lying areas of the Hirakud dam have also been alerted about flood-like situation. The water level in the Hirakud reservoir was 615.83 feet by 12 pm on Monday.
