Bhubaneswar: Foggy weather conditions will continue to prevail in Odisha for another 3 days, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre here informed on Thursday.
The weather agency has issued yellow warning of dense fog for Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati,Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada and Koraput districts till 8.30 am on December 28. Shallow to moderate fog may also occur at a few places in South Coastal Odisha, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and at one or two places in remaining parts of the state during this period.
Shallow to moderate fog is likely occur at a few places in South Coastal Odisha, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada and at one or two places in remaining districts during the subsequent 24 hours.
Similar forecast has been made for districts of South Odisha, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, and Keonjhar between 8.30 am on December 29 and 8.30 am on December 30.
Notably, a thick blanket of fog had engulfed Rourkela and Phulbani this morning, restricting visibility to 50 metres. Shallow to moderate fog was also seen at Koraput, Bhawanipatna, Jharsuguda, Paradip and Keonjhar.
The MeT office further informed that there will be no large change in the minimum temperature in Odisha during the next 5 days when it is likely to remain 2-3 degree above normal at many places. The mercury is likely to drop to 8-9 degree Celsius and hover around 16 degree Celsius in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
Amid a rise in the night temperature over past couple of days, Koraput recorded 7.4 degree Celsius in the last 24 hours followed by G Udayagiri and Daringbani in Kandhamal at 7.8 degree Celsius and 9.5 degree Celsius, respectively, Semiliguda in Koraput at 9.6 degree Celsius, Phulbani also in Kandhamal at 10.5 degree Celsius, Kirei in Sundargarh at 10.7 degree Celsius, Nabarangpur and Bhawanipatna at 11 degree Celsius each and Boudh and Nuapada at 12 degree Celsius each.
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 17.2 and 16.5 degree Celsius respectively, which was almost 3 degrees above normal.
