Berhampur: Folk and modern dances performance by different troupes were highlights of the third day of Gopalpur Beach Festival in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Monday.
The sprawling beach of Gopalpur, the venue of the festival, reverberated with the sound of folk music as the artists of Bhairab Kala Kendra performed Kui Nrutya of Kandhamal. Other folk dances of the evening were Dhemsa by artists from Koraput, Purulia Chhau by Rupchand Chhau Troupe of West Bengal, Chadheya dance by Kala Bikas Kendra and Ramlila by Raghunath Kala Sansad.
Nrutayan of Berhampur and Art Vision Group of Bhubaneswar performed Odissi. Tripati Dance and Art Academy, JDT Dance Academy and Wow Dance Group, all from Berhampur, performed modern dance which was appreciated by the youngsters.
The performance of popular Prince Dance Group of Berhampur, V Company and Rapper Big Deal stole the show much to the enjoyment of young audience. Bollywood star Sunil Grover wowed the audience with his stand-up comedy in the festival.
Prafulla Kumar Mallick, Minister of Works, Steel and Mines; Sanghamitra Dalei, Berhampur Mayor; Anjali Pradhan, president of Ganjam Zilla Parishad; Manjulata Swain, Aska MLA and others addressed the gathering at the beginning of the programme.
