Berlin: Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri arrived here on Tuesday for key consultations on India-Germany ties, coming soon after Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s state visit to India in January 2026, agencies reported.
The Indian Embassy in Berlin shared news of Misri’s arrival via a post on X, describing the engagement as a continuation of regular high-level exchanges between the two nations.
In Berlin, Misri is set to co-chair the India-Germany Foreign Office Consultations with State Secretary Geza Andreas von Geyr of the German Foreign Office.
Talks will review vital bilateral domains such as trade and investment, defence and security, technology, green energy projects, development aid, education, and cultural links. The agenda also features global and regional matters of common concern, with Misri holding meetings with additional top German officials to bolster diplomatic relations.
Paris Consultations Lead Up To Germany Visit
Ahead of Berlin, Foreign Secretary Misri led India-France Foreign Office discussions in Paris, co-chairing with Martin Briens, Secretary General of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Paris dialogue spanned civil nuclear energy, defence and space collaboration, cyber partnerships, AI advancements, cultural ties, and ongoing global developments.
Both sides reviewed current hurdles and prospects in their bilateral relationship during the meetings. Misri’s interactions with prominent French figures touched on key international issues relevant to India and France.
Misri also conferred with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot, emphasizing sustained dialogue on partnership elements, including recent geopolitical shifts.
