Forest Squad Members Injured In Attack By Poachers In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Poachers allegedly attacked and injured three forest squad members of the Udala wildlife range in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district late on Tuesday.

The incident took place while they were conducting a raid in Jamudiha village. Their vehicle was also damaged in the attack.

According to sources, the forest staffers had gone to the village following information about the killing of two Sambar deer in Similipal National Park. They seized two guns and 30 kg of venison from the house of a villager.

The staffers, however, were pelted with stones while returning to their vehicle. The villagers also beat them up and took away one gun from them.

Around 11 pm, they managed to walk to a nearby village and returned to Udala in a vehicle. The damaged vehicle was later brought from Jamudiha with help of the police.
