Former Congress MP Manvendra Singh’s Wife Dies In Rajasthan Car Accident, He’s Injured

New Delhi: Former Congress MP Manvendra Singh’s wife Chitra Singh was killed in a road accident in Rajasthan’s Alwar on Tuesday. Manvendra, 59, the son of former Union Minister Jaswant Singh, was also present in the car and sustained injuries in the accident. The former Congress MP was then rushed to the hospital.

Apart from Manvendra Singh and his wife, their 25-year-old son Hamir Singh and their driver were present in the car at the time of the accident, which took place on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, according to India Today.

As per preliminary findings, Chitra was sitting in the passenger seat next to her husband, who was driving the vehicle. Manvendra’s son and the driver were in the rear seat.

Manvendra Singh was a member of the Lok Sabha between 2004 and 2009 and represented the Barmer-Jaisalmer constituency of Rajasthan. His father, Jaswant Singh was a political stalwart, and was one of the founding members of the BJP. He passed away in 2020.

Jaswant Singh served in several central ministries during the first NDA government. He also held the finance portfolio for the last two years in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led government
